Rental Agreements

All of our Members must use Rental Agreements. They exist to support clear communication and they can also help to avoid any misunderstandings.

We know that no one like to fill out paper work, but we can assure you it will all be worth it once you finally reach your adventure destination!

You and your Rental Partner (RP) may discuss the Rental Agreement if there are any amendments that need to be made to fit your unique circumstances.  Once you've settled on the Rental Agreement with any/all amendments you're both happy with, sign the Agreement and send it to your RP.  Each of you should retain a signed copy of the agreement.

Why is this important?

Agreeing to rent your gear to someone is a serious commitment. People make plans, buy airline tickets and travel insurance which are usually all non-refundable.

The only reasons to cancel your commitment to rent to your RP are death or a serious illness in the family. If you cancel the agreed Rental you will hurt the other side financially.  The foundation of a Rental transaction is based on mutual trust, commitment and respect.

Fees & Pricing

Listing gear for sale is a complementary service O.G.E. provides. A 7% administrative fee of the Rental price for each listing will be collected at the time of transaction.  This fee is paid by the Member who has listed their item(s) for Rent, i.e. the "Lister". The Lister can take this fee into consideration and include the 7% when deciding how much money to charge for the item(s).  A good rule of thumb when deciding how much to list your gear for is to gauge your own reaction to the price.  If you hesitate or flinch at the thought of your's probably too high.  Take a look at some of the other listings on our site and shop around online to see what other items like yours are going for when deciding the right price for your listing.

O.G.E. will post your listing within 24 hours of receiving your completed Listing Form.  We will notify you within 24 hours of receiving any inquiries made about your gear.  We will also "Feature" a different listing each week, chosen at random, to boost chances of Rental Inquiries.

The O.G.E. Community is based on trust, honesty and commitment. We encourage all of our Members to be active participants in the safety of the Community. Members can contribute to a safer Community by providing reviews as well.  Send us feedback from your experience  O.G.E. and include reviews about your experience with your RP, Lister or Buyer.

Any Member has the freedom to request or volunteer a background check and/or driving record from their RP.  It's also an option to list that you are open to volunteering this information to potential Renters in your Listing Page.

Rental Etiquette

Respond Promptly to All Messages.  Even if you’re not able to accept a rental offer we ask you to reply to every message, preferably within 48 hours. Declining an offer is absolutely fine, but please don’t leave anyone hanging.

List Your Gear Honestly.  You want your RP to be just as excited upon arrival as when they read your Listing Profile.  You wouldn't want someone to falsely advertise their gear to you, would you?

Follow the Golden Rule.  Deliver your gear just as CLEAN and INTACT to your RP as you’d like them to deliver their gear to you.

Do Not Cancel!  Canceling on a RP once it has been set is more than just an inconvenience to them. From the moment you “shake hands,” plane tickets are purchased, tours get reserved, and other non-refundable arrangements get made.

Barring illness, injury, death or natural disaster, your commitment must be iron-clad, and if a compelling circumstance does force you to cancel, we ask that you make an effort to accommodate or find accommodations for your RP.
